Over the last 30 years, Maureen Gilmer has worked in virtually every aspect of horticulture and landscaping in California. Her strong background in landscape architecture coupled with decades of field experience lends a broad spectrum of expertise to all her work.
She is writer of Yardsmart, syndicated weekly in color by Scripps Howard News Service since 2001. She’s also weekly garden columnist for the Desert Sun, Palm Springs.
Maureen develops content, writes articles and provides photography for organic soil product producer Sun Gro Horticulture and design-oriented LandscapingNetwork.com In the past she provided similar services for Monrovia Growers.
With over 18 gardening books published, she is well established in the trade. Her latest and most successful titles are : The Small Budget Gardener (Cool Springs Press) and Palm Springs-Style Gardening (Sunbelt). She has published hundreds of illustrated feature stories in national and regional gardening, design and trade magazines.
Maureen was guest on The View, The Today Show and other news and cable programs. She served as project designer for 52 gardens and hosted over four seasons of Weekend Gardening for the DIY Channel.
Maureen has spoken at the Epcot Flower Festival numerous times, judged gardens at the Northwest Garden Show, and gave presentations at the San Francisco, Boise and Sacramento Garden Shows and many others throughout her extended career.
